A series of yoga poses performed in a flowing sequence to honour and harness the calming, cooling energy of the moon.
Stand at the front of your mat with your feet together or hip-width apart. Bring your palms together in front of your heart in a prayer position.
Inhale, extend arms overhead, and arch your body to the right, keeping your feet grounded. Hold for a few breaths, then return to center and repeat on the left side.
Step your right foot back into a lunge, lowering your right knee to the mat. Inhale, lift arms overhead and arch back slightly. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
From the lunge, step your left foot back to meet your right foot, coming into a forward fold. Relax your head and neck and let your upper body hang loose.
Step your feet wide apart and fold forward from the hips, bringing your hands to the mat between feet. Hold for a few breaths.
Bend your knees and sink into a squat, bringing your thighs parallel to the floor. Bring your palms together at your heart and lift your chest.
Straighten your legs and turn your right foot out to the side. Reach your right arm down to your right shin and extend your left arm up towards the ceiling. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
Step your feet wide apart and fold forward from the hips. Place your left hand on the mat under your face and twist your torso to the right, extending your right arm up towards the ceiling. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
Return to standing at the front of your mat in Mountain Pose, palms together at your heart
Repeat the sequence on the other side, starting with Half Moon Pose. Practice this sequence slowly and mindfully, focusing on your breath and the calming energy of the moon.
