This is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating yoga pose that can be beneficial for balancing your dosha.
Steps:
Lie down on your back on a yoga mat or a comfortable surface. Keep your legs extended and feet hip-width apart. Place your arms alongside your body, with palms facing up.
Gently tuck your chin towards your chest to lengthen the back of your neck. Ensure your head is in a neutral position, neither tilted back nor forward.
Roll your shoulders back and down, allowing them to rest comfortably on the mat. Feel the shoulder blades gently moving away from each other.
Let your legs relax completely, with toes falling outward naturally. If you have any lower back discomfort, you can place a rolled-up blanket or bolster under your knees for support.
Relax your hands and fingers completely, letting them curl naturally. Allow a slight space between your fingers.
Close your eyes and begin to focus on your breath. Take slow, deep breaths, allowing your belly to rise and fall with each breath. Feel the calming effect of the breath on your body and mind.
Begin to relax each part of your body, starting from your toes and working your way up to your head. With each exhale, release any tension or stress you may be holding in that area.
If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your focus back to your breath or a mantra such as Om Shanti Shanti Shanti to help quiet your thoughts.
Stay in the asana for 5-10 minutes or longer, depending on your comfort level and the time you have available. Allow yourself to fully relax and let go.
To come out of Savasana, slowly deepen your breath and begin to wiggle your fingers and toes. Stretch your arms overhead and take a full-body stretch. Roll onto your right side in a fetal position, using your right arm as a pillow. Rest here for a few breaths before slowly coming up to a seated position.
