This asana is an excellent pose to help balance Pitta dosha by reducing heat and stimulating the digestive system.
Steps:
Lie on your stomach on a yoga mat with your legs hip-width apart and your arms by your sides, palms facing up.
Rest your chin on the mat and relax your whole body.
Bend your knees and bring your heels as close as you can to your buttocks.
Reach your arms back and grasp your ankles. If you can’t reach your ankles, use a strap around your ankles to help you.
As you inhale, lift your heels away from your buttocks and simultaneously lift your thighs away from the mat. This action will lift your chest and upper body off the mat.
Keep your head in a neutral position or gently lift it and gaze forward.
Hold the pose for 15-30 seconds, breathing deeply and evenly.
To release the pose, exhale and gently lower your legs, chest, and head back to the mat.
Repeat the pose 2-3 times, with a few breaths of rest in between each repetition.
After completing the pose, lie flat on your stomach for a few moments, breathing deeply and allowing your body to relax.
