Kairali – The Ayurvedic Healing Village was named India’s Leading Spa Resort at the World Travel Awards 2015.
The award was presented at the 22nd Annual World Travel Awards, held at the InterContinental Grand Stanford in Hong Kong on 29 October 2015.
The recognition brought attention to Kairali’s Ayurveda-led approach to wellness travel and its residential model of care in Kerala.
Ayurveda at the Centre of the Experience
Kairali – The Ayurvedic Healing Village is located in Palakkad, Kerala.
Unlike a conventional spa resort, the property is built around Ayurveda. Guests may receive practitioner consultations, traditional therapies, dietary guidance and daily routines as part of a structured programme.
The aim is to create an environment where accommodation and hospitality support the Ayurvedic experience rather than stand apart from it.
This approach reflects an important difference between a general wellness resort and an Ayurveda-focused centre.
Growing Interest in Ayurveda and Wellness Travel
By 2015, wellness travel was gaining greater international attention.
More travellers were looking for experiences that combined rest, health-focused routines and traditional systems of care. Ayurveda, particularly in Kerala, became increasingly visible within this wider wellness-tourism landscape.
Kairali’s recognition at the World Travel Awards reflected this growing interest.
The award also highlighted the place of Ayurveda within a travel industry that was beginning to look beyond conventional spa treatments and toward more structured wellness programmes.
A Milestone for Kairali
The 2015 recognition marked an important moment in the development of Kairali – The Ayurvedic Healing Village.
Today, the property continues to operate as an NABH-accredited Ayurvedic hospital and holds the Government of Kerala’s Green Leaf Certification.
Ayurveda remains central to its approach, with practitioner-led care, traditional therapies and daily routines forming the foundation of the residential experience.
