Kairali’s Kaircin Night Serum: Going the Ayurveda way
Serums are the latest trend these days. Anti-dullness serum, anti-ageing serum, Vitamin C serum, anti-marks serum- almost every second company, drugstore or luxury, is launching new serums in fancy packaging promising overnight targeted action. But what if a single product could offer all of these along with the goodness of Ayurveda? More importantly, is Ayurveda too good to be true?
Kaircin serum MARKETS itself as a healing tonic, coming from the old Ayurveda Spa & Wellness brand, Kairali. While it rested on my testing table, I read its tall claims of fixing pretty much everything from open pores, dark spots, dull skin to fine lines and patchy skin. But the texture is oil! Wait, didn?t you say it was a serum? So in an already sticky monsoon, how does this oil serum helps? Well, the good part is, it does help!
How to:
Before you go to bed, apply not more than 2-3 drops over your face and neck. Massage gently and leave for 30 minutes before you wash it off with warm water.
The Price:
Rs. 500
The Claims:
Loaded with natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) from saffron and Vetiveria Zizanioides (popularly known as Khus), this oil serum asks for half an hour of your daily routine just before you go to bed in exchange for a detoxified, brighter and fuller skin.
The bottle itself looks pretty neat with its pump dispenser (Jars can be quite gruesome sometimes!). It also claims to work on collagen production, thereby giving a healthier, detoxified skin.
The Reality:
The first thing I notice about this serum is its smell. It has quite strong, typical Ayurveda oil like fragrance, which can be off putting for some. However, the minute you rub it into your palms before putting it onto your face, the smell is already fading.
Now usually, you apply a cream on your face and that?s pretty much all about it. Remembering to wash it off half an hour later with warm water is a bit of a routine with this serum. But the morning after results make you willingly take that little extra step.
Within a week, I could see a softer, plumper skin. While the dry skinned are going to absolutely love the effect, I love how it moisturizes and gives a healthy colour to even the oily ones. Also, despite having an oily skin, this neither broke me out, nor gave me an oil-slicked layer in the morning.
