Abhilash K Ramesh, Director ofKairali Ayurveda Group makes it clear that Kairali means business when it comes to Ayurveda and the company’s vision. While there is a rush in the market to label everything as Ayurveda and organic, Kairali ethics and vision are outrightly state when he says “Kairali does not want to beanother perceived as anotherspa under the garb of Ayurveda. Kairali Ayurvedic Healing villages and retreats are doorwaysto the world of Ayurvedic Science and ancient healing techniques. In an interview with a popular Indian lifestyle magazine, DestinationKerala,Abhilash explains how the vision of the group are in perfect sync with the growth plans of the company.

Destination Kerala recently caught up with
Abhilash K Ramesh at the corporate headquarters of the globally-acclaimed
Kairali Ayurvedic Group in New Delhi. Abhilash, the son of the founding couple
Gita Ramesh and K V Ramesh, is a fourth generation entrepreneur; their
forefathers were Ayurvedic physicians; Kairali?s legacy dates back to 1908 when
a small Ayurveda clinic was opened in Palakkad. Today the Group has four
verticals: Kairali Hospitality, Kairali Ayurvedic Products Pvt. Ltd. (KAPPL),
Kairali Ayurvedic Centre (KAC) and Kairali Institute of Ayurveda and
Panchakarma Training (KIAPT).

Apart from hospitality business and KAPPL,
Abhilash is now focussed on two new ventures; Kairali Organics and KEYA
Cosmetics. His brother Abhishek K Ramesh takes care of the OTC line at KAPPL,
KAC and KIAPT. ?We are growing organically at 30 per cent YoY for the past
three years,? says Abhilash.

Under the hospitality division is the flagship
property, Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village, Palakkad. At the 22nd Annual World
Travel Awards 2015, this property was adjudged ?India?s Leading Spa Resort.? In
2008, National Geographic Traveller named it one of the best ?Wellness Meccas?
in the world.

The 30-villa resort spread across 60 acres is
under renovation. ?Our next stop is Goa,? informs Abhilash. ?We are planning 21
villas at the Agonda beach front at a cost of Rs.15-20 cr and will open in
2019.?

KAC has 35 centres across 11 countries. ?We are
opening one or two new centres every month,? Abhilash says. New centres are
coming up soon in Connecticut (USA), Prague and Bulgaria as well as in Delhi.
Kairali also runs Ayurveda section at The Westin and The Westin Sohna Resort in
Gurgaon, and Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram apart from centres in Hyderabad
and Rishikesh among many others. KAC has units in India, Japan, Lebanon,
Poland, UAE, Mauritius, New Zealand, Malaysia and Bangladesh. The Group has
applied for US licence for 35 products it manufactures. They have EU licence
for 21 products. Securing the licences should spur global expansion of KAC as
the Group insists on using their own products and certified therapists. ?We
don?t want to run a spa and say it?s Ayurveda,? Abhilash is emphatic. This rare
degree of ethics should soon see them make it to the coveted Cond Naste
Traveller Gold List.
